چکیده

Abstract Plant growth regulators melatonin (MT) and salicylic acid (SA) have potent roles in plant salt tolerance. However, only a few reports studied the influence of their combined treatment on The current study, as first investigation, was aimed to evaluate effect MT SA antioxidant glyoxalase defense machineries salt-stressed wheat plants. In present potential role 70 μM and/or 75 mg l −1 mitigating injury (6.0 12.0 dS m salinity levels) investigated ( Triticum aestivum L. cv. Sids 14). Exogenously applied improved activity ascorbate peroxidase, monodehydroascorbate reductase, dehydroascorbate glutathione S-transferase, which effectively scavenged reactive oxygen species (ROS) stressed Excessive accumulation toxic methylglyoxal reversed via up-regulation system (glyoxalase I II) ascorbate–glutathione cycle. Foliar applications also reduced membrane damage by lowering lipid peroxidation protein oxidation due effective ROS detoxification antioxidants such ascorbate, glutathione, phenols, flavonoids. Moreover, exogenous increased endogenous levels under both non-saline saline conditions. yielded best results. Overall, this regulated machinery system, suggesting for it stress mitigation. Therefore, can be considered an method reducing toxicity sustainable agricultural systems.

Expression partitioning of homeologs and tandem duplications contribute to salt tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Salt stress dramatically reduces crop yield and quality, but the molecular mechanisms underlying salt tolerance remain largely unknown. To explore the wheat transcriptional response to salt stress, we performed high-throughput transcriptome sequencing of 10-day old wheat roots under normal condition and 6, 12, 24 and 48 h after salt stress (HASS) in both a salt-tolerant cultivar and salt-sensit...

Gibberlic Acid and Salicylic Acid Effects on Seed Germination and Seedlings Growth of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Under Salt Stress Condition

Seedlings establishment at early growth stages of crop plants is severely affected by soil salinity. Therefore, high germination rate and vigorous early growth under salty soils is preferred. In this study germination and seedling growth of a wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivar was assessed using three replicates of 50 seeds in a factorial laid out in two separate experiments as Completely Ra...

Potassium induced salinity tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Water culture experiments were conducted to study the response of ten wheat genotypes to external K application (10 mmol KCI dm3) at seedling stage under saline condition (0 and 100 mmol NaCl dm3). The data showed that there was an increase in the shoot and root length with the application of external K. The increase was more pronounced under control than under saline conditions. The better per...

Intervarietal Differences in Nitrogen Content and Nitrate Assimilation in Wheat (triticum Aestivum L.) under Salt Stress

Effect of five NaCl salinity treatments (0, 50, 100, 200 and 300 mM) given at different growth and developmental stages on total N level and in vitro nitrate reductase activity (NRA) in leaves and roots of two wheat cultivars viz., Ghods and Boolani was studied in greenhouse conditions. In response to salinity treatments, total N concentrations and NO3 assimilation rates in Ghods, a saltsensiti...

This study was carried out during three successive seasons 2004/05, 2005/06 and 2006/07, to evaluate fifty F derived lines (from the F diallel cross), with three check varieties under two different irrigation regimes. 3 2 Twenty different lines were selected from the fifty F lines under each level of irrigation and evaluated under 3 the same conditions in the F and F generations. Also, the effe...
